Hero of the Bailey Bridge at Wayanad Inspires Cadets at Our Campus-Major Sita Shelke

The visit of Major Sita Ashok Shelke and her team to our campus was a moment of immense pride and inspiration for all. Major Shelke, a pioneering officer in the Indian Army, has earned national acclaim for her outstanding leadership in constructing a 190-ft Bailey bridge in the challenging terrains of Wayanad. As the only woman officer leading a 70-member team from the Madras Engineering Group, her story is one of courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the nation.
In celebration of the 244th Raising Day and the 25th Anniversary of Operation Vijay, Major Shelke and her team arrived at our Sainik School as part of a commemorative bike rally. Their visit was not just an event—it was a powerful reminder of the strength, determination, and dedication required to serve the nation. The young cadets were deeply moved and motivated by the stories of valor and service shared by Major Shelke and her team.
Dr. Deepa Chandran, Principal of Sree Sarada Vidyalaya New Sainik School, had the privilege of welcoming and honoring Major Shelke during this unforgettable occasion. Her presence on our campus has left an indelible mark, inspiring the next generation of heroes to rise and serve with the same passion and dedication.
This visit was a proud and historic moment for our school, reinforcing the spirit of leadership, bravery, and commitment that we strive to instill in every student.
